come and behold. ven y contempla

what have i learned in the past year?

i’ve learned that life with Jesus isn’t easy.

life with Jesus is a process

a process of refinement

a process of surrender

a process of death that brings new life

living life with Jesus means trying and failing

seeking and finding

coming and beholding

because we become what we behold

but what does it look like to set your gaze upon the creator instead of his creation?

this is something to be learned from the very person of Jesus

Jesus who set his gaze on us, his first love, so that he may endure the cross

for God so loved the world - that Jesus endured the cross.

he took the accusations

he suffered through the beatings

he felt the betrayal

and yet his gaze remained on us

for God so loved the very world that betrayed him

for he so loved us - that he even considered it worth it.

worth it because he did not behold his affliction

worth it because his eyes were on us, his prized procession

because when we behold the right thing, it will always be worth it

so what are we beholding?

we become what we behold.

so what are we becoming?
